Editorial Assignment 6 – Architecture

Posted by Melissa on April 28, 2009

So, for my final assignment for Editorial, I took a trip down to The Plaza in Kansas City. It was a steamy day, just before the rain had started. I snapped as many as I could before I got dumped on. Enjoy!

Editorial Photography Assignment 3 – Event

Posted by Melissa on March 24, 2009

So, for our third assignment I chose to shoot an event. I often attend rock shows to shoot for my online portfolio and as luck had it, I had a show to shoot over Spring Break. I shot this show at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City on March 14. It was Rockstar Energy’s Taste of Chaos featuring Pierce the Veil, Bring Me The Horizon, Four Year Strong and two other bands I did not photograph, Thursday and Cancer Bats.

Here is my FLICKR SLIDESHOW.

Mules Basketball Practice @ UCM Multi

Posted by Melissa on February 24, 2009

Hello, everyone!

So I was asked to shoto some photos at the UCM Mules basketball practice. I obliged (considering it was for a grade!) and here are 6 shots from the shoot.

Excuse the graininess. All of us (my classmates were there, as well) were shooting around 1600 ISO. Ewuh.

Cosmetics Reshoot?

Posted by Melissa on February 23, 2009

I am going to be reshooting my Editorial Cosmetics Assignment.

My previous ones didn’t quite make the mark, so I’ve decided to take some time and find some inspiration to reshoot the assignment. Perhaps it won’t even be cosmetics. Who knows!?

So, be looking out for that.

Later!

Round Two!

Posted by Melissa on January 22, 2009

Hello everyone!

Well I’m here to update again with some editorial photographers in the areas of fashion, event, and editorial portrait photography. I hope you all enjoy!

Peggy Baud WoolseyEditorial Fashion Photographer, Peggy Baud-Woolsey, a Philladelphia-based photographer, is a artist who takes a different angle to fashion. Although she has quite a few regular fashion shots, a lot of her shots are posed and placed much differently. I enjoyed looking at her images for inspiration. Her fashion work is very precise and organized. (http://www.lapegphoto.com)

Charles Bartholomew

Editorial Portrait Photographer, Charles Bartholomew (based out of Philladelphia) uses excelent use of light in his editorial portraits. I enjoyed looking at his industrial editorial portraits because he used good use of lighting and background to convey the message of a particular individual: their profession. (http://www.charlesphoto.com)

Phil MacinoPhil Macino is a editorial event photographer out of Seattle, Washington. I absolutely LOVED his work. I also enjoy doing event photography, and when given the chance, I’m usually there shooting. Its refereshing and comforting to know that someone is making money doing event photography and that I could do it too. Its clear that Phil enjoys this form because he captures the moment beautifully. I can tell he’s having fun and its not just a job. (http://www.philmacino.com)

I hope you all enjoyed. Don’t forget to go check out these photographers. Their work is amazing.

I will be updating soon! I have been down with the flu, so my apologizes.
